Donald Charles Wilson

Hastings resident, Donald Charles Wilson, 80, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2011, at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings-Village. Services will be Thursday, February 24, 2011 at 2 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Hastings, NE with Rev. Joel Remmers officiating. His body was cremated. Burial will be at a later date. Book signing will be Wednesday, February 23, 2011 from 9 AM to 4:30 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Donald was born October 10, 1930 to Lyle and Patricia (Biggs) Wilson in Boone, Iowa. Donalds mother passed away when he was 6 and due to a birth injury he was unable to speak words his entire life, but he was able to understand and respond to request. After his mothers death Donald was placed in the Beatrice State Development Home, Beatrice, NE. He had also lived in a nursing home in ONeil, NE and Neligh before becoming a resident of the Martin Luther Homes of Nebraska (now Mosaic) in Hastings, NE in 1977. Donald worked many years in Mosaics Workshop. In 2011 he became a resident of Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings-Village. Donald will be remembered for his contagious laugh, his quiet humor and the sparkle in his eye when he was being ornery. Despite his hard life Donald was a happy soul and usually wore a big smile. Memorials may be given to Mosaic, in Hastings, NE.
