Hastings resident, Donald D. Einspahr, 77 passed away Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings- Village. Services will be Friday, April 13, 2012 at 2 pm at the Peace Lutheran Church in Hastings, NE with Rev. Marcus Mackay officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, April 12, 2012 from 12 noon to 9 pm at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, NE with military rites by the Hastings Veteran Groups. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Memorials may be given to the Peace Lutheran Church or the familys choice. Donald was born January 1, 1935 to Frank and Marietta (Hasebrook) Einspahr on a ranch south of Holstein, NE. He had nine siblings.He was baptized and confirmed at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Holstein, NE. He graduated from the Holstein High School in 1955. He served in the United States Army from June 3, 1957 to May 21, 1959 and was stationed in Germany. He married Katherine Kucera. He farmed most of his life and worked for the Animal Research Center near Clay Center, NE for a number of years before retiring. He was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Hastings, NE. He enjoyed fishing, sports and collecting coins. He is survived by his wife Katherine of Hastings, NE, one step-daughter, Sylvia Van Leer and husband Bob of Bel Grade, NE, three grandchildren and five great grandchildren, one brother, Eldean Einspahr of Kansas City, MO and one sister Lois Arterburn of North Platte, NE and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one step-son, Nicholas Einspahr, three sisters, Shirley Weber, Eunice Goelz and Loretta Baker and three brothers Eugene, Gerald and Duane Einspahr and numerous other family members.
