Donna B. Parker

Donna Beth Parker, 88, died Sunday, February 24, 2019, in Aurora, CO. Funeral service will be 11:00 am Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at Apfel Funeral Home with Reverend Kelly Karges officiating. Burial will follow at the Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be start one hour prior to the service. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Donna was born on May 12, 1930, in Elba, NE. She was the daughter of Frederick P. Frandsen and Anna (Zavitka) Frandsen. She graduated from Elba High School in 1948, and from Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Hastings, NE in 1951. Donna worked at St. Francis Hospital from 1958-1959 and at Lutheran Hospital from 1959-1962, both in Grand Island. She retired from the VA Medical Center in Grand Island in 1989.



Donna married Jack D. Parker on June 12, 1955, at Faith United Methodist Church in Grand Island. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church until she moved to Aurora, CO in May of 2014.



Donna enjoyed all University of Nebraska sports and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.



She will be deeply missed by surviving members of her family, son: Tom Parker, daughters: Tena (Steve) Kascht, Mary Beth Parker; grandchildren: Jennifer (David) Haukeness, Erin (Patrick) Mahan, Brady Parker; great grandchildren: Parker Haukeness and Cora Haukeness; and sister-in-law: Gerre Hall.



She was preceded in death by her husband: Jack, on November 27, 2002; parents, sister: Ann Braun; sister-in-law: LeBerta Rowen; and brothers-in-law: Jack Braun and B. Maurice Hall.



Donna’s final words left to comfort us were, “don’t be sad about my death because I will be where I want to be-with your dad. I love all of you very much, your mom.”
