Donna Elaine Haefeker

January 28, 1935 — November 2, 2015

Hastings resident, Donna Elaine Haefeker, 80, passed away Monday, November 2, 2015 at Mary Lanning Memorial HealthCare, Hastings.

Services will be Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 10 am at the Grace United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Lee Wigert and Rev. Cindy Karges officiating.

Visitation will be Friday, November 6, 2015 with family present from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com. Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings is in charge of the arrangements.

A memorial will be established.

Donna was born January 28, 1935 to Matthew and Edna (Offner) Rose in Red Cloud, NE.

She grew up in Red Cloud then in her adult years she lived in Hastings. She married Joseph Raymond White on November 11, 1954, but they later divorced in 1962. Together they had four children, Raylene Jo, Henry Joe, James D and Edward Lynn White. She met and married Herbert Elwin Haefeker on October 15, 1970 in Red Cloud, NE. To this union she gained a son, Michael Lee Haefeker. Donna and Herbert also had a daughter, Tamara Elaine Haefeker.

Donna worked at the Beanery in Red Cloud during her teen years, then she worked at Fitzsimons Army Hospital in Aurora, CO. In her later years she worked at Hastings College in the library.

She was a faithful member of Grace United Methodist Church and was a member of the United Methodist Women in Hastings. She was a member of Parents without Partners, Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary #592 for 39 years, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Camper Club, Archery Club, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, the American Legion Auxiliary, Hastings Unit #2016 and the VFW Club.

She enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing, archery, her church and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Left to treasure her memory, two daughters, Raylene Jo (Michael R.) Weber of Plattsmouth, Tamara Elaine Horner of Omaha, three sons, Henry Joe (Sally) White of Hastings, James D. (Stephaine) White, of Springtown, TX, Edward Lynn (Sandi) White, of Fremont, and one sister, Shirlee Counterman of Dodge City, Kansas, 23 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends that will miss her dearly.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Herbert, two sons, Joe Allen Haefeker and Michael Lee Haefeker and five brothers, Matthew Jr., Robert L, Harlon W., Dale E., Loran R. Rose
