Donna I. Jacobsen

Kenesaw resident, Donna Irene Jacobsen, 81 passed away, Monday, April 27, 2015 at the Haven Home, Kenesaw after a long battle with Alzheimers.



Services will be Monday, May 4, 2015 at 10:30 am at the United Methodist Church, Kenesaw. Burial will be in the Kenesaw Cemetery, Kenesaw. Visitation will be Sunday, May 3, 2015 from 2 pm to 6 pm with the family present from 4 pm to 6 pm at the Apfel Funeral Home in Kenesaw. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com. Apfel Funeral Home, Kenesaw is in charge of the arrangements.



Memorials may be given to the Kenesaw Volunteer Fire Department or Mary Lanning Hospice, Hastings.



Donna was the youngest of three daughters, born July 23, 1933 to Albert and Nova (Christ) Rider in Akron, Colorado. She married Cletus (Jake) D. Jacobsen on March 26, 1955 in Wichita, KS, Cletus passed away May 28, 2008.



Donna worked as a cosmetologist in Nebraska and Colorado for many years. Nurturing others was her true calling in life witnessed by raising her own children and being second mom to many nieces and nephews.



She was a hardworking soul, toiling many hours in her numerous gardens and yards, sewing countless quilts made out of feed/flour sacks for every member of her family, and always on the hunt for the best bargain. She did not really enjoy cooking, but she would always put on a feed when family or friends visited. She enjoyed trips to Cripple Creek and the boats in Omaha.



She is survived by three children, Jerry (Pat) Jacobsen of Kenesaw, Judy (Ronny) Wilson of Fountain, Colorado and Jim (Susan) Jacobsen of Fountain, Colorado, five grandchildren, Jennifer (Eric) Pohlson, Jeremy (Nicole) Jacobsen, Cristi (Matt) Barber, Jacob Wilson and Jens Jacobsen and seven great grandchildren and one sister, Eloyce Noel, of St. Charles, MO.



She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 53 years, Cletus (Jake), a grandson, Henry Jacobson and sister, Wanda Wilson.
