Donna Jean Schrock

Donna Jean Schrock, 86 of Alda, died Friday, November 13, 2015 at Tiffany Square Care Center in Grand Island.



Services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Grand Island with Pastor Edgar Schambach officiating. Interment will be in the Wood River Cemetery.



Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M. Tuesday at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date. Apfel Funeral Home is caring for the family.



Donna Jean was born on October 25, 1929 in Wood River, Nebraska to Frank and Elizabeth (Huebner) Opp. She grew up in Wood River and lived in the Wood River area all of her life. She graduated from Wood River High School in 1947 and taught at District 44 Rural School. She was united in marriage to Wallace Wrage on November 24, 1949 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in downtown Grand Island. They had 2 daughters, Deanna and Debra. The couple later divorced. She was united in marriage to Don Schrock on November 1, 1974 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Grand Island. She had various jobs while raising her family. She later went on to working in retail and worked for Tobers until retiring in 1990. Don preceded her in death in 2005.



She was a lifelong member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Grand Island and was very active in the St. Pauls Church Circle and Funeral Luncheon Committee. She was a member of the Liederkranz, Platt Duetsche Society, Extension Club, and local card clubs. When her children were growing up, she was a very dedicated 4-H mother. Donna Jean enjoyed sewing, crafts, and cooking, but her greatest enjoyment in life was her family. She especially cherished her grandchildren, and she will forever be remembered by her family as saying, "love you the mostest!"



Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters and sons-in-law, Deanna and Ed Meedel of Grand Island, Debra and Reid Kittelson of Lincoln; grandchildren and their spouses, Chris and Teri Meedel of Dublin, CA, Bill and Sarah Coddington of Urbandale, IA, Jared and Amber Meedel of Glendale, AZ, Saul and Hilary Kittelson of Kansas City, MO, Garrett and Rachel Kittelson of Omaha, NE; great-grandchildren, Abby, Ella, and Chase Meedel, Thomas and James Coddington, and Madden Kittelson.



Donna Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don; brothers, George, Henry, Carl, and Fredrick Opp; and sister, Rosa Packer.
