Dora Marie Tucker

October 28, 1911 — September 21, 2014

Dora M. Tucker, 102 of Grand Island, died Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Howard County Hospital in St. Paul.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 25, 2014 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church with the Reverend Bill Pavuk officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Island. Visitation hours will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2014 at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.

Dora Marie Tucker was born October 28, 1911 in Grand Island, Nebraska the daughter of Earnest & Dora (Ewoldt) Matthiesen. She grew up in Grand Island and attended District #28 school.

She was united in marriage to Raymond J. Russell, in 1936. The couple made their home in Grand Island where she was employed by Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant, JM McDonalds and Kaufmans. She later married George Tucker in 1947.

She was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church and the Platt Deutsch Society of Grand Island. She enjoyed her family and friends and playing cards.

Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Robert Russell and Richard Russell and special friend, Jeanie Spiehs all of Grand Island, four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, George, two daughters-in-law, Mary Lou Russell and Barbara Russell, two brothers, Ernie Matthiesen and Alfred Matthiesen, three sisters, Linda Paul, Freida Matthews, Marie Matthiesen.
