Hastings resident, Doris J. (Kile) Woods, 86 passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings-Village.

Visitation will be Monday, December 18, 2017 from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Apfel Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings. Rosary will be at 7 pm, Monday December 18, 2017 at the Apfel Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings with Father Bala Raju Marneni officiating. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 10:30 am with Father Bala Raju Marneni officiating at St. Cecilias Catholic Church, Hastings. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com. Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings is in care of the family.

Doris was born June 7, 1931 to Perry and Germaine (Sullivan) Kile in Upland, NE. She started school in a county school north of Campbell, NE. Her family moved to Franklin when she was six. She attended school in Franklin until the end of 6th grade. Her family moved to Blue Hill, where they lived until the end of WWII. They then moved to Bladen, where she graduated from high school in the class of 1948. She lived her entire life in Franklin, Webster and Adams Counties.

Doris taught school for 2 years in Webster County District 13. On June 24, 1950 she married Leo Woods at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Blue Hill, NE. Doris worked at Good Samaritan Village from 1965 to 2003.

She is survived by four sons, Dan (Gloria) and Lenn (Lauretta) all of Hastings, Rick of Omaha and Chris (Brenda) of Elizabeth, CO, 8 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, 2 step- great grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Janet Kile, one brother-in-law, Jerry Boo and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leo and siblings, Bill Kile, Barb Garvin, Eldon Kile, Elfreda Boo and Mary Kile.
