Doris Leith Baisinger

Long time Kenesaw resident, Doris Leith Baisinger, 96 passed away Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Premier Estates, Kenesaw.



Services will be Tuesday, April 24, 2018 10:30 am at the Kenesaw United Methodist Church, with Rev. Dr. Lee Wigert officiating. Burial will be in the Elwood Cemetery, Elwood, NE at 2 pm with Rev. Stuart Davis officiating. Visitation will be Monday, April 23, 2018 from 4 pm to 7 pm with family present from 5 to 7 pm at the Apfel Funeral Home, Kenesaw. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com. Apfel Funeral Home is in care of the family.



Memorials may be given to the Kenesaw Public School Foundation, for Kindergarten students or the Kenesaw United Methodist Church.



Doris was born May 5, 1921 on a farm north of Elwood, to Charles and Mabel (Snyder) Leggott. She attended Lone Star School, a one room country school, through the eighth grade and in 1938 she graduated from Elwood High School. She continued her education for two years at Nebraska State Teachers College in Kearney. After many years of summer school and off campus classes she graduated from Kearney State College in 1965.



Doris married George W. Baisinger on June 6, 1941. He died on January 26, 1971. The couple had three children: Virginia, Mary and David. After the children were in school Doris taught elementary grades in several districts including, Eustis, Lebanon, Beaver Valley and finally Kenesaw where she taught kindergarten and served as the librarian for the final twenty five years of her career.



She was a member of the Kenesaw United Methodist Church, Extension Club, Readmore Book Club, Bridge Club, and she was an Admiral in the Nebraska Navy.



Doris was known for her sense of humor, deep and caring friendships, and love of her church. Her children and extended family knew her for her abiding love, constant support and encouragement. She traveled throughout much of the world, loved reading and her family. She continues to serve as a role model for all who knew and loved her.



Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother, Vaugn and wife Evelyn Leggott, and her Baisinger brothers and sisters in law.



Those left to mourn her passing are her children; David Baisinger (Karen) of Kenesaw, Mary Aderholt (Robert) of Kenesaw, and Virginia Leopold (Phillip) of Windermere, Florida. Other survivors include eight grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
