Former Hastings resident, Dorothy A. Kent, 87, passed away Friday, September 7, 2012 at the Compassionate Memory Care Hospice in Omaha, NE. Services will be Thursday, September 13, 2012 at 11 am at the First St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Hastings, NE with Rev. Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings; NE. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 12, 2012 from 12 noon to 9 pm with the family present from 4 to 8 pm at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE and one hour prior to service time at the church. Dorothy was born November 27, 1924 to Carl Albert and Britta (Lundgren) Peterson near Kiron, IA. She attended Immanuel School of Nursing in Omaha, NE and was a member of the Army Cadet Nursing Service. She married Marvin C. Kent in 1947 and lived in Hastings, NE for 61 years before moving to Omaha, NE in 2008. She was a registered nurse working in doctor offices and at Mary Lanning Memorial HealthCare for 41 years. She was a member of the First St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Hastings, NE and then the Lutheran Church of the Master in Omaha, NE since 2008. Those remaining to cherish her memory includes her husband Marvin, of nearly 65 years, and four daughters, Cynthia (Red) Spiehs, Rebecca Kent, Marsha (Dave) Stuva, Sandra (Steve) Gebers all of Omaha, NE, 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, and many other loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers, Arthur, Kenneth, Glenn, Harold and Donald Peterson, 2 infant sisters Alice and Emma Peterson, one granddaughter, Lisa Spiehs, and a great grandson, Tre Garst.
