Hastings resident, Dorothy Irene Hinrikus, 88, died Friday, January 06, 2006, at the Perkins Pavilion, at the Good Samaritan Village in Hastings. Services will be Tuesday, January 10, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lee Wigert officiating. Burial will be at Kenesaw Cemetery in Kenesaw, NE. Visitation will be Monday, January 9th at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Tuesday until service time at the church. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Mrs. Hinrikus was born, May 18, 1917, to August (Gus) and Iva (Currier) Bockerman on a farm by Prosser. She attended high school in Prosser. She married Edward Hinrikus on June 30, 1934. She spent her life serving others and serving Christ. She was a homemaker, a caregiver for the elderly, and a server for the Green Thumb Program. She lived at Villa Grace in Good Samaritan Village since 1997. In 2000, she moved to Perkins Pavilion. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Hastings. She is survived by a son, Duane Hinrikus of Shelby, and his wife Patricia, 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren 3 Sisters: Betty Robison of Springfield, MO., Bonnie McLeod of Juniata, and Edith Frickey of Hastings. 3 Brothers: Mervin and Raymond Bockerman of Hastings and Bernard Bockerman of Prosser. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ed, 3 Brothers, William, Lorrain, and Carl. Memorials may be given to the Grace United Methodist Church of Hastings.
