Dorothy Lanita Rayburn, 88, of Gibbon, NE died November 23, 2017, at home. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at Faith United Methodist Church in Gibbon, NE, with the Reverend Mike Evans officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Gibbon. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to Gibbon Fire Department or Faith United Methodist Church. Dorothy was born on November 24, 1928, in Custer County, NE, to Clarence David and Vinnie (McGinnely) Marrs. She grew up in Custer County, and received her education at Custer County School and Kearney. Dorothy was united in marriage to Dale Rayburn on July 2, 1945, at St. Francis, KS. The couple resided in Gibbon, NE.

She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Gibbon as well as the Gibbon Garden Club for over 50 years. She enjoyed being a Bible and Sunday School teacher, oil painting, and also was able to land an airplane.

Those left to cherish her memory include sons: Joe (Pat) Rayburn, Cy (Janice) Rayburn, all of Gibbon, NE; sisters: Mary Priest of Henderson, NV, Jeanette (Lynn) Read of Orange, CA; grandchildren: James Rayburn of Gibbon, NE, David (Kasey) Rayburn of Elm Creek, NE, Jason (Tina) Rayburn of Gibbon, NE, Dawn (Ricci) Westland of Pleasanton, NE, and Jami Rayburn Beezley of Kearney, NE; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by husband: Dale, brother: Jim Marrs, and sisters: Hazel Shovlain and Verna Jirik.
