Doug was born on January 14, 1963, in Vinton, Iowa to Carroll and Mary (Parmater) Walter. He grew up in Vinton and graduated from Vinton High School. He moved to Hastings where he worked at Bruckman Rubber Company for 25+ years before retiring in 2016.

Doug was an amazing father and loved by many. He enjoyed watching sports, playing computer games, and spending time with his family. Doug grew up loving sports. He was the left handed pitcher for the Vinton Vikings. He was such a nice calm man who earned the nickname “Smooth.” That nickname is still used today by all of his friends. He raised four children who were not biologically his as his own. He never wanted anyone to struggle. He gave everything he had, without asking why. When people needed him. He was always the first person to go to. He was reliable, honest, hardworking, and lived with absolute integrity in everything he did.

He is survived by his daughters Danyell Boutin, Kristi Boutin, Brandy Miller, Amy Ruff, son Chase Boutin, nephew Wally White, sisters Susan White, and Terri Walter, and his life partner and best friend Sharon Boutin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carroll, and Mary.
