E. B. "Sam" Sherman

October 21, 1924 — October 6, 2018

Hastings resident, Elinor Barbara “Sam” (Corman) Sherman, 93, passed away, Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Tiffany Square Care Center, Grand Island.



Services will be Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 10 am at the Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings with Rev. Greg Lindenberger officiating. Burial will be in the Blue Valley Cemetery, Ayr. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings is in care of the family. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com.

E.B. “Sam” Sherman was born on October 21, 1924, to Harry and Margaret (McBurney) Corman, near Cole Camp, Missouri. She graduated from Lincoln High School, Lincoln, Missouri in 1942. On March 14, 1946, she married Glen V. Sherman at Bolivar, Missouri. To this marriage were born three children, Barb, Dan, and Cindy.



Sam worked as a secretary before her marriage and was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed her grandchildren, family, flower gardening, and entertaining family and friends. Sam was a member of Hastings United Methodist Church, UMW (Women’s Society), and the “Pauline Group.”



Sam is survived by Barb (Ralph) Seier, Wood River, NE; Dan (Eva) Sherman, Madison, WI; and Dr. Cindy Sherman (Peggy Morgan), Camarillo, CA. Grandchildren include Wayne (Carrie) Seier, Wood River, NE; Nathaniel Sherman and Nikki Sherman, Long Grove IL, Aleksandr, Zabava, and Nia Sherman, Madison, WI. Great-grandchildren include Amanda (Travis) Zoucha of Omaha, NE, Justin Seier and Brandon Seier, Wood River, NE. Great-great grandchildren are Owen and Willow Zoucha of Omaha, NE. Also, Dr. Ann Sherman, friend daughter Wanda Paisano, and numerous nieces and nephews.



She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen and siblings, Orval (June) Corman, Eloise (“Rocky”) Boyette, Erma Lee (John T.) Young, and friend Lloyd Post.
