Edna Violet Maixner, 86, of Cairo, NE died September 8, 2018 at Lincoln Heart Hospital. Funeral services will be Thursday, September 13th at 10:30AM at the First Baptist church in Cairo with Pastor Jack Boling officiating. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island on Wednesday, September 12th from 4PM to 7PM. Apfel Funeral Home is serving the family.
Edna was born January 24, 1932 in Pollock, SD to Gottlieb and Christina (Moser) Kerher. She grew up and graduated from high school in Pollock. She was united in marriage to Eugene Hehn and had 5 children in this marriage. As a military wife she traveled around the world and explored various cultures. In 1970, Edna married Frank Maixner. From this marriage they had one daughter in Texas and later moved to Cairo where they resided until their deaths.
She enjoyed crafting with her daughters, puzzles, shopping and time spent with her grandchildren. She frequently visited Fort Randall casino and had a love for BINGO.
She is survived by daughters Pam (Larry) LeGates of Milford, DE, Paula (Mark) Lammers of Onalaska, TX, Pennie (Tim) Eriksen of Boelus, Peggy (Tim) Lemburg of Dannebrog and Roxanne (Nick) Kolev of Omaha, 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, sisters Donna of Bloomington, MN and Martha of Bridgewater, SD.
Edna is preceded in death by both husbands, son Jack, sister Lydia, brothers Jake and Irwin.
Memorials are suggested to the Cairo Senior Center or the Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Association in support of her 2 great grandchildren.
