Eileen E. York, 88, of Grand Island died Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 29, at the Gollaher Chapel of Trinity United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jay Vetter will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Apfel Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Trinity United Methodist Church or the donors choice. Eileen was born January 18, 1925, at Hastings, NE to Harry L. and Charlotte (Sipult) Moser. She grew up in Hastings and graduated from Hastings High School in 1943. Eileen married Duane Bud York on June 8, 1947, at Hastings, NE. The couple lived in Hastings where Eileen worked as a bookkeeper for Hested Stores for four years. They moved to Grand Island where she worked as a sales clerk at J.C. Penny. She later worked for Safeway Stores as a checker and at the Second Street Jack & Jill Store as a meat wrapper for 26 years, retiring in 1984. Eileen was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for 59 years, AARP, Always Busy Club and the Happy Wanders Club. She was also active in the Cub Scouts as a Den Mother. Mrs. York also had a son who was an Eagle Scout. She is survived by her son, Thomas York of Redlands, Calif.; three grandchildren, Angel York, Thomas York, Jr. and Shaunna (Adam) Adinolfi. She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane in 2010, one son, Gary York, one brother and one sister.
