Eileen "Juliann" Thornton

Eileen “Juliann” Thornton of Grand Island NE passed away in her home on Friday, May 21, 2021.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Apfel Funeral Home with Rev. Kelly Karges officiating. Burial will follow in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM on Wednesday, May 26th at the funeral home.



Julieann was born May 13th, 1947 to Ed and Lyda (Gleason) Christensen. She grew up in Grand Island and received her education from Senior High.



She was united in marriage to Chester “Deano” Thornton on August 31st, 1973 in Savannah Missouri. After which they lived in the Grand Island area.



She worked as a waitress in several local restaurants while putting herself through beauty school. Later she worked at The Golden Towers and Lebensraum as a beautician. She loved going to hair shows with her sister Jan or as they called themselves “Thelma and Louise”, they always seemed to have a great time together.



Nothing made her more happy then the time she was able to spend with Mikey and Trai. In her younger years she enjoyed family vacations, being a cub scout leader and going to the cabin with family. She loved doing genealogy, scrap booking, & visits from her favorite grand dog Myka. She also looked forward to the annual family picnic each year, truly enjoyed being able to spend time with everyone.



Those left to cherish her memories are her husband, Dean. Her son and daughter in-law Mikey and Shar Thornton. A grandson and his fiance Trai & Tatum. A great granddaughter, Zeyanna. Four sisters, a brother, several Nieces and Nephews.



Proceeded in death by her parents and her sister Jeanette.
