Elenor "'Ellie'" J. Heib

Elenor J. Ellie Hieb, 81, of Alda, died on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society Grand Island.



Services will be at 10:30 am on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island with Derek Apfel, CFC officiating. Burial will be in the Alda Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday evening from 5 to 7 pm at Apfel Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Valley Home in ONeill. Apfel Funeral Home is serving the family.



Elenor was born on January 21, 1936 in Delmont, South Dakota, the daughter of Harry and Una (Holten) Pope. She grew up in Delmont, South Dakota and received her education at Delmont Public Schools.



She was united in marriage to Harold Hieb on June 12, 1954 in Armour, South Dakota. The couple lived in Armour and Tripp, SD where she worked at Wagner, South Dakota, and Avon South Dakota at a nursing home. The family moved to Alda in 1968 where she worked for Bullet Weights, and Leon Plastics from March27, 1981 until her retirement on June 27, 2003.



Elenor was a member of the Alda Methodist Church. Her hobbies included her children, her grandchildren and any other kid that needed a couch and pillow, Ellies home was home to numerous kids through the years.



Those left to cherish her memory are four sons, Rick Hieb of Ft. Calhoun, Dan Hieb, Mike and Gail Hieb and Tim and Tina Hieb, all of Alda, a daughter, Bev Hieb of Creighton. Eleven grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Una Pope, brother, Dennis Pope and sister-in-law Vi Pope.
