Elinor Lykke Rademacher

Elinor Lykke Rademacher, 89 of Woodland Hills, California, died Monday, June 13, 2016 in Tarzana, California.



Graveside services will be Saturday, June 25, 2016 at the Grand Island City Cemetery, Grand Island with the Rev. Bill Pavuk officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday at Apfel Funeral Home, Grand Island. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date. Apfel Funeral Home is caring for the family.



Elinor L. Rademacher was born February 21, 1927 in Grand Island, Nebraska, the daughter of Roy & Florence (Guendel) Lykke. She grew up in Grand Island where she received her education from the Grand Island Public Schools and the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. She was a Stewardess for United Airlines flying on DC-3 and DC-4 aircraft and met her future husband, John, who was a pilot for United Airlines.



She was united in marriage to John Rademacher, October 31, 1951 in Grand Island, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Denver, CO. and Woodland Hills, California where she had resided for the last 61 years. While in Woodland Hills she was employed with GE, the LA Convention Center and Carnival Cruse Line.



Elinor loved her children Brian and Kurt, grandsons and loved The Lord. She was a regular attendee of the Bel Air Presbyterian Church. She financially supported the Alpha Phi Sorority, Wild & Domestic Animal Rights and the Union Rescue Mission in Los Angeles. She was a world traveler and loved flying and aviation. She had a great appreciation for music which included Broadway Musicals and playing the organ which she learned to play later in life. She enjoyed socializing with her friends several of whom were Nebraskans, playing Bridge or dining out, along with cooking at her home, going on leisurely drives with her husband to Hollywood and Malibu and walking in the parks. She was a dog lover, a Nebraska Football Fan and enjoyed visiting her grandsons, Luke & Matthew, and daughter-in-law, Ania, in Northern California. She was a passionate and long time volunteer for the March of Dimes. Elinor was also a long term cancer survivor.



Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Brian Rademacher of Petaluma, California and Kurt Rademacher of Woodland Hills, California; two grandchildren and daughter-in-law.



She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Lykke; mother, Florence Lykke; husband, John; and sister, Ruth Barrett.
