Elizabeth "'Bette'" 'Bette' Rea

Elizabeth Bette Rea, 92 of Grand Island died Monday, January 27, 2014 at her home in Grand Island, Nebraska.



Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., February 8, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church in Granite City, Illinois with the Rev. Jeffrey Welch officiating. Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church in Granite City, Illinois or donors choice. Apfel Funeral Home is assisting the family with local arrangements.



Elizabeth Bette: Rea was born May 11, 1921 in Granite City, Illinois the daughter of Loren & Minnie (Herring) King. She grew up and received her education in Granite City, Illinois, graduating from Granite City Senior High.



She was united in marriage to Dale Rea in 1944 in Granite City, Illinois. The couple made their home in Granite City, Illinois and Biloxi, Mississippi, where she was a homemaker and later was employed at DePaul Hospital, in St. Louis, MO.



She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Granite City, Illinois, and PEO. She loved to travel. In 2012 she was welcomed into Primrose Retirement Community in Grand Island, where she became a part of the Primrose family and loved playing in the Bell Choir, playing bridge, China painting and knitting.



Those left to cherish her memory include a son and daughter-in-law, Chris & Debb Rea of Grand Island, Nebraska, daughter-in-law, Eileen Rea of Granite City, Illinois, five grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dale Rea, son, Derek Rea and daughter Gretchen Rea Dayment.
