Ella May Morrison, 77, of Chapman was called home by our Lord and Savior on Friday, February 27, 2015, at the Nebraska Heart Institute in Lincoln.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grand Island. The Rev. David Wietzke will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Monday at the Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island.
Ella May Morrison was born November 4, 1938, at Martin, SD to Otto and Freida (Heinert) Frederick. She grew up and attended school in Valentine, NE.
She married Gerald L. Morrison on July 7, 1956, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Valentine.
The couple lived in several communities, including Grand Island until finally calling Chapman home.
Ella May worked at the B&M Bar and then worked for Fonner Park for 20 years until her retirement.
Ella May was an active member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church until her declining health limited her participation.
Ella May loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and the time she spent with them. Her hobbies included teaching her grandchildren how to cook and make crafts, sewing, and scrap booking and in her early years she was an avid bowler.
She is survived by her daughters Karen Becker and her significant other, Larry Ballweg, daughter Donna Murray and husband David; grandchildren, William Rudolf and wife Samantha, Davey Murray and wife Jen, Tiffany Murray, Johnathan Becker, Faith Sumpter, great-grandchildren Kenzie, Austin and Ashlyn Rudolf , and Charlei Sumpter; brothers and sisters, Bob Frederick, Dan Petersen, Wendell Petersen, Wayne Petersen, Dorothy Riley and Bea Fiala; and numerous nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Ella May was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald in 2010; two brothers, Ted and Leonard Frederick; one sister, Laurain Turpitt and son-in-law, Michael Becker.
Memorials are suggested to Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church.
