Emil M. Tyma, 69 of Cairo, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Good Samaritan Society in Ravenna. Nebraska. Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2013 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Rockville, Nebraska with the Rev. Marty Egging officiating. Burial will be in St. Marys Catholic Church Cemetery, Rockville, Nebraska. Visitation hours will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2013 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Rockville with the parish rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Ascera Care or Good Samaritan Society Ravenna. Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island is caring for the family. Emil M. Tyma was born April 18, 1944 in Loup City, Nebraska the son of Emil M. & Agnes (Kusek) Tyma Sr. He received his education between Loup City High School and Boelus High School graduating with the class of 1963. While attending Boelus High School, he met the love of his life of 48 years, Ruth (Gartner) Tyma. They were united in marriage, May 1, 1965 in Rockville, NE. When his father took ill, he came back to the family farm where he loved farming and tilling the land until he became ill. In his spare time he loved being with his family and attending their activities, volunteering his time and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Rockville, Nebraska where he was a Church Trustee, on the Parish Council and caretaker for the cemetery. He was in charge of several church programs, such as Renew, and served as a CCD teacher for Junior and Senior High Students. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Ruth Tyma of Cairo, along with three children: Rod & Jackie Tyma of Golden, CO, Valerie (Mathew) Henry of LaVista, Nebraska and Sherry (Daniel) Bourne of LaVista, Nebraska, five grandchildren, Lisa Tyma, Shawn Henry, Miranda Henry, Emily Bourne and Nathan Bourne, sister, Carol Oseka of Wood River and brother, Richard Tyma of Litchfield, Nebraska, many loving nieces, nephews, relative and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil & Agnes Tyma, sister, Marilyn Sawyer and nephew, Lee Tyma. Online condolences may be directed to the family at www.apfelfuneralhome.com
