Emily F. Kosmicki

Emily F. Kosmicki, 101 of Grand Island died, Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island.



Services will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Grand Island with the Rev. Tom Ryan and the Rev. Ray Kosmicki officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Island. Visitation hours will be on Friday evening from 4 to 7 pm, with the rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Memorials are suggested to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Apfel Funeral Home serving the family.



Emily F. Kosmicki was born, October 4, 1913 in Sherman County, Nebraska the daughter of Thomas & Veronica (Lewandowski) Lubash. She grew up in Loup City and Ashton and received her education thru the 8th grade.



She was united in marriage to Philip Kosmicki on June 19, 1933 at St. Josephs Catholic Church, Loup City, Nebraska. The couple made their home on a farm near St. Libory, Nebraska where she worked on the family farm, later moving to Grand Island. She resided at Riverside Lodge and Wedgewood Care Center.



She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and St. Libory Catholic Church.



Emily continued to mow her own lawn to age 90 and enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening to the age of 96. She was a fabulous cook, especially known for her pies, kolaches and angel food cake. Her grandchildren fondly remember when they were young, how they loved her dill pickles. She would often say I love to work.



Those left to cherish her memory include three sons & daughters-in-law, Jerry & Judi Kosmicki of Grand Island, Ron Kosmicki of St. Libory, Ray & Kathy Kosmicki of Omaha, NE, eight grandchildren: Kent & Karen Kosmicki of Steamboat, CO, Daniel & Michelle Kosmicki of Lincoln, NE, Dr. Andy & Cindy Bartek of Des Moines, Iowa, Mike and Carol Kosmicki of Omaha, NE, Dr. Dave & Brenda Robbins of Des Moines, Iowa, Bob & Rhonda Kosmicki of Omaha, NE, Tim & Kristin Kosmicki of Hayes, Kansas, Karen Sanders of Minden, NE, 24 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Evelyn Kosmicki and numerous nieces & nephews and a host of friends.



She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom & Veronica Lubash, husband, Philip Kosmicki, son, Martin Kosmicki, brothers, Stanley Lubash, Egnatz Lubash, Hubert Lubash, Alvin Lubash, sisters, Martha Lubash, Clara Riskowski, Delphine Mrkvicka.
