Emmet Jarzynka

Emmet P. Jarzynka, 88, of Cairo died Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island.







Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at Resurrection Catholic Church in Grand Island. The Reverend Martin Egging will officiate. Cremation will take place following services. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date.







Visitation will be from 4 to 6 P.M. Friday at the Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island, with a prayer vigil following at 6 P.M.







Memorials are suggested to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.







Apfel Funeral Home is serving the family.







Emmet Peter Jarzynka was born December 5, 1928 in Paplin, Nebraska the son of Anthony & Antonia (Badura) Jarzynka. He grew up and received his education in the Hazard area where he attended the local school.







He served in the United States Army from 1947 until he received his honorable discharge in 1948.







He was united in marriage to Dorothy (Behrens), December 31, 1955 in Cairo, NE. The couple made their home in Cairo where he farmed.







He was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church, Grand Island.







He enjoyed reading, flowers, playing the accordion, farming, fishing, polka music and especially his children and grandchildren.







Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Dorothy Jarzynka of Cairo, three sons & daughters-in-law, Laverne & Sharon Jarzynka of Cairo, NE, Randall & Deb Jarzynka of Cairo, NE, Gerald & Rose Jarzynka of Lincoln, NE, two daughters & sons-in-law, Barbara & B.J. Elder of Kenai, Alaska, Marie & Dave Kraft of Doniphan, NE. 11 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren.







He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Chester, Stanley, Clifford, Roman & Charlie Jarzynka, five sisters, Leona Woolery, Esther Miller, Irene Whitley, Edyn Verbeck, Ernestine Tesmer.
