At Our Jackson-Wilson Funeral Home location, Kenesaw, NE. Kenesaw resident, Ervin W. Blackie Berg, 93, passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Society, Wood River Campus, Wood River, NE. Service will be Monday, September 27, 2010 at 10 AM at the St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Kenesaw, NE with Pastor Paul Duffy officiating. Burial will be in the Kenesaw Cemetery, Kenesaw, NE. Visitation will be Friday, September 24, 2010 and Saturday, September 25, 2010 from 9 AM to 9 PM and Sunday, September 26, 2010 from 11 AM to 3 PM at the Jackson-Wilson Funeral Home, Kenesaw, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Memorials may be given to the family and a memorial will be established at a later date. Ervin was norn July 25, 1917 to Louie J. and Olga (Rief) Berg in Kenesaw, NE. He was a lifelong member of the St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Kenesaw, NE and was baptized on August 12, 1917 and was confirmed May 11, 1930 there. He attended St. Pauls Lutheran School where he graduated 8th grade in 1931. He then began his lifes work of farming and raising livestock on the family farm near Kenesaw, NE. On September 15, 1940 he married Wilma Jean Cross (Whitesel) at the St. Pauls parsonage in Kenesaw, NE. She passed away April 27, 2007. Besides farming he was a partner in B.M.P. Well Drilling, and a licensed agent, he owned and operated Berg Insurance Agency of Kenesaw for more then 50 years. He also for many years assisted at Jackson and later the Jackson-Wilson Funeral Home of Kenesaw, NE. At St. Pauls Ervin was an elder and church council member. He belonged to the Lutheran Laymens League and the church bowling team. He served as a District 52 School Board member, As a multi-term Kenesaw Township Board member he held varied offices, including Chairman. He served several terms as a Kenesaw Village Board member, also holding various offices, including Chairman. He was a founding member of the Kenesaw Lazy-K Saddle Club, serving as president numerous times. He is survived by daughters, Sheila Winslow, Sharon Lukow, and Gloria Hoban and husband John all of Kenesaw, NE, grandchildren, Kimberly Klusman and husband Douglas, Tammy Porterfield, Jamie Porterfield, and Katie Lukow all of Kenesaw, NE, Kari Lukow of Lincoln, NE, and Kristin Sullivan and husband Andy of Doiphan, NE, great grandchildren, A1C Cody Klusman and wife Shonda of Omaha, NE, Kade Klusman and wife Katrina of Clermont, Iowa, Joshua Bumgarner and wife Melanie of Springfield, MO, Joel Donaldson, Jennica and Jesse Porterfield and Blake Lukow all of Kenesaw, NE, and great great grandchildren. Clayton Klusman of Omaha, NE, Ashlynn Klusman of Clermont, Iowa, and Benjamin Bumgarner of Springfield, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Wilma, one brother Edward, one grandson, Billy Porterfield and one great grandson James Porterfield.
