Hastings resident, Evelyn Margaret (Higday) Dies, 90 passed away, Friday, January 29, 2016 at Mary Lanning Memorial HealthCare, Hastings.
Services will be Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 10 am, at the Apfel Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings with Pastor Greg Lindenberger officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Visitation will be Friday, February 5, 2016 with family present from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Apfel Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com.

Evelyn was born, November 24, 1925 to George E. and Dottie Mickael
Higday in Kellerton, Iowa. She attended Kellerton High School.
She married LeRoy Dies on November 1, 1946 in Leon, Iowa, LeRoy passed away, March 22, 2006. Evelyn was a homemaker, a loving grandmother and friend to many.
She was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary and the DAV Auxiliary.
Evelyn was a great cook; her hobbies included painting, home repair and gardening. She liked to sing and dance. She loved her children and grandchildren. She lived for others.
She is survived by two children, LeRoy Dies, Jr. and wife Patty of Castle Rock, CO, Ginny Ware and husband Daniel of Hastings. Three grandchildren, Andrew Ware of Hastings, Austin Dies and Lilly of Aurora, CO, Molly Carlson and husband Kenny of Lincoln. One great grandchild, Brooke Carlson of Lincoln. Two sisters, Rosalie Draper of Des Moines, IA and Melba Taylor of Lamoni, IA. Three sister-in-laws, Alice Skomorowski of Shelby Twp, MI, Dorothy Ferguson of Norwalk, IA and Betty Dies of East Moline, IL along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband LeRoy, and siblings, Harley Higday, Fornola Virden, Calvin Higday, Oleta Lamphiear, Crystal Margie Higday, Robert Higday and Eugene Higday.
