Evelyn Oline Shuler

Hastings resident, Evelyn Oline Shuler, 88, passed away, Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Mary Lanning Memorial HealthCare, Hastings, NE. Services will be Friday, April 1, 2011, at 1 PM at the First United Methodist Church, in Hastings, NE with the Rev. Alan Davis officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, NE. Visitation will be Thursday, March 31, 2011 from 9 AM to 9 PM with the family present from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimers Association or the First United Methodist Church, Hastings, NE. Evelyn was born February 19, 1923 to Edward and Mathilde (Hanson) Mikelson in Viroqua, Wisconsin. She moved with her family to Nebraska from Wisconsin in 1926. She graduated from the Albion High School, Albion, NE in 1940. She attended the Bryan Nursing College, Lincoln, NE in the Cadet Nursing Program. She was a nurse at the Hastings Regional Center, Hastings, NE. She married Harold Frank Shuler in 1946 in Kansas, Harold passed away on March 21, 1969. She had lived in the Hastings area since 1946 coming from Albion, NE. Evelyn had been a resident of College View, in Hastings, NE since 2008. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, in Hastings, NE, a past member of the Public Library Book Club and the home extension clubs. Evelyn was a loving mother, and loyal friend. She enjoyed doing volunteer service work and was an avid quilter and homemaker. She is survived by a son, Gary Shuler of Hastings, NE. two daughters, Mary Ellen Shuler and Linda Brown and husband Daniel all of Omaha, NE, a daughter-in-law- Carol McKennon of Curtis, NE, 7 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, and one sister, Ruth Deckert of Columbus, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold, a son, Ralph Edward Shuler and a brother, Bernard Mikelson.
