Evelyn P. Magnuson

June 8, 1915 — October 10, 2016

The most beautiful, loving, caring, hilarious, and generous woman on earth has gone to her Lord in Heaven after 101 years, on October 10, 2016 at St Francis Hospital. Born June 8, 1915 in Archer, Nebraska she received her education with the Archer Public School System. Evelyn was united in marriage to Paul E Magnuson on March 27, 1949. The couple was married 40 years. Mr. Magnuson died on November 14, 1989. Loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt and friend.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Paul Magnuson, daughter Donna Irwin, great-grandchild Jamie Grandon, great-great-grandchild Ethan Grandon, parents Orean Gillham and Nancy Groves Gillham, seven sisters and four brothers. She leaves her daughter and son-in-law Nancy and John Slattery (Frisco, TX), son and daughter-in-law Samuel and Sally Magnuson (Casper, WY), and son and daughter-in-law Stephen and Donna Magnuson (Grand Island, NE), fourteen grandchildren and many greatgrandchildren. Evelyn has numerous nieces, nephews and cousins she loved dearly and was blessed with more good friends than she could shake a stick at.

Born prior to the start of World War I, Evelyn lived through and witnessed the most extraordinary changes and events of the last 100+ years encompassing the simplest of things in the horse and buggy days from getting electricity and automobiles to space travel and landing on the moon, and the digital world of today. In addition to being a homemaker and exceptional cook, she had an amazing green thumb.

She was employed at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant in Alda, NE during World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Viet Nam War. She was an Avon representative for a number of years and won many awards for her sales results. Later she enjoyed her role interacting with people as she served food samples at local stores such as Allens Self-Service and Skagway. She enjoyed family times at Big Mac, gardening, fishing, bowling, bingo, travel and caring for her grandchildren.

Her time on earth was full of life, love and much laughter. Evelyn always enjoyed a good joke, was an avid prankster, and didnt mind a drink before dining. Everyone she met she welcomed with open arms. She is now celebrating with her loving God, family and friends. She was a role model for all and will be missed always.
