Hastings resident, Evelyn Ruth Larsen, 91, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2012 at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings-Village. Services will be Friday, October 12, 2012 at 2 pm at the First St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Hastings, NE with Rev. Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, NE. Visitation will be Thursday, October 11, 2012 from 12 noon to 9 pm at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home and Cremation, Hastings, NE. Memorials may be given to the family. Evelyn was born December 28, 1920, to George and Minnie (Schmidt) Decker in Doniphan, NE. She attended grade school in Hildreth, NE and graduated from the Hastings Senior High in 1938. During WWII she lived in Arkansas and Texas working for the PX Exchanges in both states. She married Wilbur Blunt he was killed in France during WWII. After moving back to Nebraska she worked at the Clarke and Carter Hotel, in Hastings, NE. She married Marvin Larsen in May 4, 1947 he passed away in November 13, 1982. She assisted her husband in their sign business. She was a member of the First St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Hastings, NE, she was past president of the Lutheran Church Women and the Church Woman United. She is survived by one son, Eric Larsen and wife Kami of Lincoln, NE, 3 grandsons, Nathan, Chase and Seth and one granddaughter Zoe all of Lincoln, NE and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Wilbur and Marvin, three brothers, Robert, Albert and George and three sisters, Matilda Wenske, Anna Decker and Phyllis Zior and an infant granddaughter, Brittany.
