Blair, NE resident, Fern M. Thompson, 85, passed away Friday, October 14, 2011 at the Crowell Memorial Home, Blair, NE. Services will be Tuesday, October, 18, 2011 at 2 PM at the Grace United Methodist Church, Holstein, NE with Pastor Stuart Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Holstein Cemetery, Holstein, NE. Visitation will be Monday, October 17, 2011 from 9 AM to 6 PM at the Jackson-Wilson Funeral Home, Kenesaw, NE and one hour prior to service time at the church. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Fern was born July 27, 1926 to Charles and Frankie (Frazier) VanMatre in Bladen, NE. She attended Bladen Public School. She married Clifford Thompson. She was a homemaker and sold Avon for many years. She had lived in the Holstein Roseland, NE area most of her life moving to Blair, NE in 1997. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Holstein, NE, a charter member of the Holstein American Legion Auxiliary, the AARP, the Adams County Historical Society, and the Nebraska State Geological Society in Lincoln, NE. She is survived by one sister, Rena Hitch of Grand Island, NE and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clifford, two brothers, Cecil VanMatre and Walter VanMatre and two sisters, Nora Tuttle and Lola Hesman Memorials may be given to the donors choice.
