Kenesaw resident, Florence M. Schneider, 97, passed away Tuesday, December 14th, 2010 at the Kenesaw Haven Home, Kenesaw, NE. Services will be Friday, December 17, 2010 at 10 am, at the United Methodist Church, in Kenesaw, NE with Pastor Stuart Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Kenesaw Cemetery, NE. Visitation will be Thursday, December 16, 2010 until 9 pm at the Jackson-Wilson Funeral Home, Kenesaw, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com . Florence was born on a farm southwest of Kenesaw, NE on April 13, 1913 to Hardin and Emma (Godbey) Young. After her father died in 1921, her mother and four younger sisters moved to Kenesaw, NE. She attended school in Kenesaw and graduated from the Kenesaw High School in 1929. She continued her education by attending summer sessions at both the University of Nebraska and the Nebraska Wesleyan University. After graduating from high school Florence taught in several Kenesaw area rural schools including Mayflower, Roeder and Denman. She completed her teaching career when she taught one semester at Kenesaw Elementary School. Throughout these eleven and a half years she continued to live at home using her salary to support her mother and sisters. On July 6, 1940 Florence and Donald Schneider were united in marriage at her mothers home in Kenesaw, NE. Florence and Don began their married life in Twin Falls, Idaho. In November of 1942 they returned to Kenesaw where she spent the remainder of her life as a homemaker. Florence was a lifetime member of the Kenesaw United Methodist Church and held a number of church offices. She was a member of the Kenesaw Senior Center and the Adams County Historical and Genealogy Society. With lifelong devotion, Florence loved her church, her family and all things beautiful. Survivors include one daughter, Karen Baisinger and husband David of Kenesaw, two sons, Richard and wife Janet of Blue Springs, MO, and Dwight and wife Janie of Thornton, CO, one sister Thelma Armitage of Papillion, NE, five grandchildren, Kendra Baisinger, Jill Baisinger, Jason Schneider, Joshua Schneider, and John Schneider, five step-grandchildren, Heather Higgins, Ashley Higgins-Campbell, and Mitch Higgins, and five great grandchildren, Steven Schneider, Gregory Schneider, Jazmine Schneider, Benjamin Baisinger-Rosen and Clara Baisinger-Rosen. Florence was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, Leroy Hardin, one granddaughter, Lara Schneider, four sisters, two half-sisters and four half-brothers. Memorials may be given to the Kenesaw United Methodist Church, the Kenesaw Haven Home or the Kensington, Hastings, NE.
