Former Hastings businessman, Paul J. Fidler, 91, passed away, Saturday, March 19, 2016 at North Platte, NE.
Graveside services will be Thursday, March 24, 2016 at 3 pm at Parkview Cemetery, Hastings with Rev. Barry Rempp officiating. There will be no visitation. Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings, is in charge of the arrangements.
He was born September 17, 1924 in Cambridge, NE, to E.H. Fidler and G.E. (Michel) Fidler. He graduated in 1942. Moving to Hastings, he helped build the igloos at the Naval Ammunition Depot. He served in the United States Navy from June 29, 1943 to December 18, 1945. He married Thelma R. Wright on June 4, 1945 in Norton, KS, Thelma passed away on August 16, 2011. They returned to Hastings and he worked for Stewart Plumbing and Heating, he later held there master plumbing and gas licenses. In 1959 he opened Fidler Plumbing and Heating retiring in 2008.
He was an active member of numerous Masonic Organizations, First Congregational Church, VFW and American Legion. He was also an officer in EPI, Inc.
He is survived by, one son, Craig (Lela) Fidler, one grandson, Everett (Jean) Fidler, great grandchildren, Rachel and Evan Fidler all of North Platte, NE, brother and sister, Ken and Judy Fidler of Deadwood, S.D., sister, Winifred Rodarmel of Spearfish, S.D., sister-in-laws, Nadine, Klara, Donna and Peggy, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Thelma and brothers, Raymond, Gerald, Ronald and John and sisters, Erestine and Delores.
