Frank C. Patton, 79 of Grand Island, died Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, October 27, 2014 at St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Grand Island. The Father Robert Lewis will be officiating. Interment in will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3-5 P.M. Sunday at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. Memorials are suggested to St. Stephens Episcopal Church in lieu of flowers.
Frank was born September 25, 1935 in Long Island City, New York to Glen and Ruth (Voshell) Patton. His family moved various times while growing up, for his dad was a meat inspector for Army Troops. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1954. He attended Kansas State and Kearney State College. Frank entered the U.S. Army on October 5, 1955 and was stationed in Manheim, Germany in the 510th Tank Battalion. He was honorably discharged on September 20, 1957. He was married to Connie Patton and they had two children together, Rod and Mark. Frank later married Kathy Grasmick on May 9, 1988 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He was employed by Sears from 1961 until 1990, starting in the farm store, then appliances. Frank was a member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church, Riverside Golf Club, Eagles, and the Saddle Club. He enjoyed fly fishing in Colorado; fishing trips to Canada, dirt bike riding, snow skiing, bowling, and golf. He loved RV-ing, especially the trips to Las Vegas.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Patton of Grand Island; sons and daughter-in-law, Rod Patton of Grand Island and Mark and Ta Patton of Hawaii; 3 grandchildren; and numerous friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth (1993) and Glen (2002); and brother, Charles Chuck Patton (2009).
