Gale "Dick" Dean Wright

Gale Dean Dick Wright, 87 of Hastings died Sunday, November 05, 2017, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings.



A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 8, 2017 from 3 pm to 7 pm with Gale present at the Apfel Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings. Apfel Funeral Home is in care of the family. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com.



Memorials may be given to the Church of Christ or Cancer Center both in Hastings.



Dick was born October 31, 1930 to George Dwey and Mazie (Grimm) Wright in Giltner, NE. He married Detta (Stafford) on August 3, 1951 in Aurora. Dick was a forklift driver retiring in 1992 from New Holland and had also managed the Philips elevator for several years and was the Phillips volunteer fire chief.



Dick was very active member of the Church of Christ for 55 years; he loved spending time with family and being with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed carpentry and gardening.



He is survived by his wife Detta of Hastings, children, Dennis (Veronica) Wright of Doniphan, Dallas (Kathy) Wright of Port Jervis, New York, Darra Wright of Hastings, Dannia (Hal) Hughes of Carson City, NV, grandchildren, Shawn, Melissa, Scott, Brenda, D.J., Amie, Danny, Holly, Shayla, Vanessa and Nathan and 25 great grandchildren.



He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Dorthy Manka and Edna Stafford and one brother, Dale Wright.
