Hastings resident Gary E. Campbell, 82, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at his home.
Services will be Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 10:30 am at the Shelton Methodist Church, Shelton with Pastor Carla Gunn officiating. Visitation will be Friday, February 1, 2019 from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings. Burial will be in the Shelton Cemetery with military rite by the Shelton Legion. Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials may be given to the Shelton Methodist Church, Shelton.
Gary was born June 19, 1936, to Claude E. and Phyllis W. (Dodd) Campbell in Ft. Collins, CO. He graduated from Shelton High School in 1954. He served in the United States Army from October 20, 1958 to April 19, 1959. Gary was a carpenter and built houses.
Gary was one of the original founders of the Kearney Drag Strip and a member of the American Legion, Shelton. He enjoyed wood working and carpentry.
He is survived by a two sister in laws, Evelyn J. Campbell and Loma L. Campbell both of Grand Island, niece Suzanne (Bruce) Lans, deceased nieces’ husbands; Dave Harders of Wood River, and Ray Saunders of Grand Island, cousins Richard And Wilma Jean Mayfield of Shelton, Patricia Candy of Kearney, and numerous family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Ronald D., Harold C., nieces; Debra Harder and RaeAnn Saunders.
