Gary Knickelbein

August 20, 1953 — May 14, 2023

Gary Knickelbein, 69, of Roseland, NE died on Sunday, May 14, 2023 at Mary Lanning Health Care in Hastings, NE. A memorial service in his honor will be 11 AM Friday, May 19, 2023 at the Northridge Assembly of God Church in Grand Island with Pastor Mark Oberbeck officiating. Military rites will follow the conclusion of the services. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Thursday, May 18th at the church.


Gary “Nick” Knickelbein was born on August 20, 1953 in Necedah, Wisconsin to Robert E. and Elsie (Czerwinski) Knickelbein. He grew up and attended school in New Lisbon, WI.


He was united in marriage to Linda “Lynn” Wolzen on March 5, 1992 at First Christian Church in Lexington. The couple lived in Lexington, NE until 2015 when they moved to Roseland, NE. He worked at Orthmans, PVH Agri sales, and began his own business in welding and repair. Before retiring he was driving truck.


He entered the Navy on September 30, 1971, serving during Vietnam. He was honorably discharged on September 29, 1975.


He was a member of the First Christian Church – Lexington where he served as an elder and kids teacher, Eagles Club, and the American Legion. He enjoyed his family, hunting, fishing, bowling, tennis, camping, and fireworks. He loved to travel and spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren.


Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda “Lynn” Knickelbein of Roseland; children, Heidi (Jim) Braden of Grand Island, Heather Hardee of Seattle, WA, Nicholle (Ramon) Zamores of Medford, OR; grandchildren, Jaiya, Xander and Kyra Braden, Aliya (Esteban) Constanza, Rubi Zamores, Ramon Zamores; great grandchildren, Emilio Constanza and Evo Constanza; siblings, Sandy (Hank) Johnson, Larry (Nancy) Knickelbein and Pam (Wayne) Cordts; sisters-in-law, Rita Knickelbein, Peg Henne and Colleen Cherry; and numerous nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Dolores Grimshaw, Kenny Knickelbein, Edward Knickelbein, Harry Knickelbein, Debbie Hatfield, and an infant brother, Robert.
