Gary L. Clark, 62 of Grand Island, died Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at V.A. Medical Center, in Grand Island. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2012 at Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, Grand Island. Anton Roundy will be officiating. Burial will be in Grand Island Cemetery. Visitation hours will be 9:00 a.m until service time at the church. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated to the Latter Day Saints Humanitarian Wheelchair Project. Apfel Funeral Home is caring for the family. Gary L. Clark was born September 2, 1950, at Grand Island, Nebraska the son of Ronald E. & Mary E. (Dickerson) Clark. Gary moved with his parents to the Olney, Illinois area in 1955, returning in 1963 to Grand Island. Gary graduated from Grand Island Senior High with the class of 1969. He received a Bachelors degree in 1975 from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He served in the United States Army from November 1980 and was honorably discharged in October of 1987. He was united in marriage to Connie Smith, October 5, 1971, in Utah. Two children were born to this union, Veronica and Gary Lee Jr. He was married to Vicki Baldwin, October 4, 1978, and four children were born to this union, Amber Leigh, Benjamin Lee, Jared Redford and Ryan Jason. His third and charmed marriage was to Cynthia L. Huffman, November 20, 2001, in Kearney, Nebraska. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Portland Oregon Temple on February 8, 2003. Gary worked in sales, living throughout the Western United States. In 2003 Gary & Cindy returned to Grand Island to make their home. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, a member of the High Priest Group Quorum, which he enjoyed teaching on Sundays.. He enjoyed writing poetry, running, tennis going to movies, especially drama & action along with reading. The last several years he has enjoyed studying the History of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Church. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife: Cynthia of Grand Island, four sons and daughter in law, Gary Lee Jr. & Lisa Clark of Layton, Utah, Benjamin Lee, Jared Redford and Ryan Jason Clark all of Park City Utah, two daughters and sons in law, Veronica Kathleen & Chris Tomlinson of Syracuse, Utah and Amber Leigh & Andrew Nickel of Delta, Utah, a step daughter, Sarah Huffman of Omaha, NE. Eight grandchildren: Jordon, Jacob, Kennedy, Kassity and Makinlee Tomlinson, Corbin Clark, Zaya & Maylee Nickel. His father, Ronald Clark of Grand Island, brother & sister in law, Kenneth & Judy Clark of Peoria, Arizona, sisters in law & brother in law, Debbie Lambert and fianc(c) Hershel Henry of Loveland, Colorado, Pam & Randy Hemphill of Ravenna, Nebraska, Sandra Emerson of Mena, Arkansas, Trudy & Brian Fritzler of Merino, Colorado and Michael & Yuki Huffman of Japan; along with many nieces and nephews, great nieces & great nephews. Upon entering the Spirit World, Gary was greeted by his mother, paternal & maternal grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
