Gary Robert White, 71, of Grand Island, died Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at Wedgewood Care Center, Grand Island, surrounded by his loving family.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Reverend Theresa Mason and Reverend Matt Fowler officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Island. Visitation hours will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2014, with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. at the Apfel Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date. Apfel Funeral Home is caring for the family.
Gary Robert White was born February 24, 1943, in Grand Island, Nebraska the son of Don Robert & Kathleen E. (Stuhr) White. He received his education in Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island Senior High School with the class of 1961, and attended Kearney State Teachers College at Kearney, Nebraska. He received his Bachelor of Science in Business from Bellevue University, Bellevue, Nebraska. He was united in marriage to Dixie Whitt, September 15, 1963, in Grand Island. The couple made their home in Grand Island where he was employed by Chief Automotive systems, and later at CNH as a Manufacturing Engineer from 1999 until 2008.
He was a lifetime member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he was actively involved as a Stephen Minister taking training in Orlando, Florida in 1999 to be a Stephen Leader.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife; Dixie White of Grand Island, three sons & daughters- in-law, Scott & Ethel White of Kearney, Jeffrey & Tammy White of Omaha, Jason & Heather White of Kearney, one daughter & son in law, Suzan & Scott Whitefoot of Highlands Ranch, CO, grandchildren, Jennifer & fianc, Chad Boughton, Jessica White, Meghan, Morghan, Molly and Madison Whitefoot, Hayden, Harrison & Addisyn White, Brianna & Kaylee White, step grandchildren, Katie & Alex Hermann, Alex & Matt Wissing; great grandson, Jackson Hermann, and one great grandson due in July; one brother & sister-in-law, David & Sharon White of Doniphan, sister & brother-in-law, Kris & Mark Scarborough of Lenexa, KS, sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law, Jacqueline & Rolland Spath of Grand Island, Nikki & Dale Brunz of Escondido, CA, numerous nieces & nephews, several cousins and a host of friends.
He was welcomed into heaven by his parents.
