Gary Lee Starostka

Gary L. Starostka, 69, of Grand Island, NE died on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island, NE. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Gary was born on March 11, 1955, at Columbus, NE to Robert ‘Bob’ and Rosella ‘Rosie’ (Geier) Starostka. He grew up in Clarks, NE and received his education at Clarks Public School. 

He owned and operated Fast Eddies in Grand Island for many years. He was known for his famous chicken wings and made sure to bring them to any event he could. Gary loved to travel and was consequently the family’s travel guide often. He loved and adored his family and always wanted to be sure they were taken care of. His kindness was always shown through his willingness to help people. 

Gary is survived by his mother Rosie; siblings: Nancy (Terry) Blauhorn of Palmer, NE, Cindy (Paul) Wagner of Omaha, NE, Mary Jo (Rick) Hart of Hickman, NE, Dave (Chris) Starostka of Grand Island, NE, and Danny (Janet) Starostka of Kearney, NE; and many nieces and nephews.

Gary is also survived by Mike (Rochelle) Nelson who was like a son.

He is preceded in death by his father Robert; infant brother, Tommy Starostka; and grandparents.
