Genevieve O. Portenier

Hastings resident, Genevieve O. Portenier, 80, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2009 at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings Village. Rosary will be Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at 7 PM at the St. Michaels Catholic Church, Hastings, NE. Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at 10 AM at the St. Michaels Catholic Church, Hastings, NE with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial will be in the Parkview Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, October 5, 2009 from 12 noon to 9 PM and Tuesday, October 6, 2009 from 9 AM to 5 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE. Genevieve was born August 3, 1929 to Moise and Hilda (Schmidt) L Heureux in Campbell, NE. She married Kenneth Portenier on March 12, 1949 he passed away May 4, 2002. Genevieve was a homemaker. She was a member of the St. Michaels Catholic Church, the St. Michaels Altar Society, Catholic Daughters, a past member and co-chairman of the Adams County Extention Club and the St. Michaels Quilters Club all in Hastings, NE. She is survived 2 daughters, Karen Adams and Mary Rose, 2 sons, Michael Portenier and Steven Portenier all of Hastings, NE. 9 granchildren and 1 great grandchild, and 1 brother Jack L Heureux of Gravette, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Kenneth. A memorial will be established.
