Gerald W. Romig

Gerald Jerry Romig, 70, of Grand Island died Thursday, July 9, 2015, at Golden Living Center in Fullerton.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Neligh Cemetery. Burial of the ashes will be after services. There will be no visitation as Mr. Romigs wish was for cremation.

Mr. Romig was born Oct. 21, 1944, in Tilden, the son of Hazel (Branen) and Sterling Romig.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sister, Carol Jean Stauss of Grand Island; a brother and sister-in-law, William and Betty Romig of Prattville, Ala.; several nieces and nephews and their spouses, Carolyn and David Van Dyke of Arvada, Colo., Stacy and Brian Cox of Grand Island, Mark and Tracy Stauss of Grand Island, Mike and Lisa Romig of Great Falls, Mont., Robby and Cindy Romig of Raliegh, N.C., Lee and Sandy Esco of Deatsville, Ala. and Tim and Marianne, of Tallassee, Ala.; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

Jerry was a 1963 graduate of Grand Island Senior High School.

He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Grand Island.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and Sterling Romig; a sister-in-law, Judith Romig; a brother-in-law, James Stauss; and his grandparents, Grace and Max Romig and Cathryn and Harry Branen.
