Geraldine D. Caldwell

October 14, 1927 — January 19, 2012

Hastings resident, Geraldine Gerri D. Caldwell, 84, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Hastings-Village. Memorials may be given to the Grace United Methodist Church in Hastings, NE. Services will be Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Grace United Methodist Church, in Hastings, NE. with Rev. Dr. Lee Wigert officiating. Burial will be in Mennonite Cemetery, near Ayr, NE. Visitation will be Monday, January 23, 2011 from 9 am to 9 pm at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Gerri was born October 14, 1927 to Ammon N. and Mary (Grabill) Showalter in Roseland, NE. She moved with her parents in September of 1937 to Lancaster, CA. There she attended Roosevelt Elementary School and Antelope Valley Union High School. In December 1940 she moved with her parents to Pomona, CA. where she then attended Fremont Junior School and Pomona High School graduating in 1944. From 1946 to 1969 she worked as a bookkeeper and accounting supervisor for the Southern Service Company, Ltd, in Ontario, CA. She married Charles Dewey Caldwell on June 15, 1947, at the Pomona First Christian Church. Gerri moved to Honolulu, Hawaii in 1969 when her husband accepted a position with the University of Hawaii at the Honolulu Community College. She worked one year at Pacific Laundry, three years as an accountant for Liberty House and three years as administrator for the Pathology Associates before quitting to care for her parents needs in Hastings, NE. In 1985 she returned to Liberty House to work in the Financial Planning department until retirement. Due to her husbands declining health they moved to Hastings Good Samaritan Society in 1997. Dewey passed away August of 2000. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Hastings, NE, and was active in the Hawaiian Music Association, in Honolulu, Hawaii. She is survived by one brother-in-law, Roger Caldwell of Oxnard, CA, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Dewey.
