Hastings resident, Germaine Mary Hemberger, 82, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2015 at College View, Hastings.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, November 16, 2015 at 10 am at St. Michaels Catholic Church, Hastings, with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Rosary will be Sunday, November 15, 2015 at 4 pm at the Apfel Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial will be in the Roseland Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 15, 2015 from 2 pm up till rosary time at the Apfel Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings. Apfel Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com.
Memorials may be given to the St. Michaels Church, Hastings.
Germaine was born April 1, 1933 to William and Magdalena (Schumm) Kolbet in Lawrence, NE. She graduated from Lawrence High School and received her teachers certification from Hastings College. She married Eugene Hemberger January 21, 1953 in Lawrence.
She was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church, Hastings, the Altar Society, Catholic Daughters and St. Michaels Choir.
She is survived by her husband Eugene of Hastings, one daughter, Laura (Scott) Rosno of Hastings, three sons, Gordon Hemberger of Hastings, Lamont (Susan) Hemberger of Juniata and Mark Hemberger of Hubbell, NE, 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, one son-in-law, Doug Volkmer of Clayton, NC, one sister, Madeline (Norbert) Hemberger of Roseland and one brother, Jerome Kolbet of Hastings.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Paul Hemberger, one daughter, Mary Volkmer, one sister, Dolores Kolbet and three brothers, Romuald Kolbet, Oscar Kolbet and Art Kolbet.
