Glen G. Kemper

Glen G. Kemper, Master Plumber of Grand Island died Wednesday, July 17, 2024, surrounded by his family at CHI Health St. Francis at the age of 83.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday at the Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. The Rev. Adam Snoberger will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the service Saturday at Apfel Funeral Home.

Glen G. Kemper was born March 19 ,1941, at home in Stanton, NE to Bernhard T. and Christine (Stauffer) Kemper. 

He moved with his parents and brother to Grand Island when he was two years of age. Glen received his education in the Grand Island Public Schools.

Glen worked with his father at Kemper Plumbing Company. It is there where he met his future wife, who was the secretary for the company.

Glen was united in marriage to JoAnn Arnold on October 20, 1963, at Trinty Lutheran Church in Grand Island

While working with his father, Glen and his father built and sold eight new houses, one which Glen and JoAnn lived in.

Following his father’s death in 1972, Glen then worked for Sewer Rooter, Maret Plumbing, Sheet Metal Specialties and O’Hara Plumbing Co. over 32 years, retiring in 2012.

Glen enjoyed plumbing his entire life, especially the last 10 years while working for O’Hara’s running PEX plastic water pipe and monobloc systems. He was a very hard worker who loved to tell jokes.

He loved having his granddaughter, Marissa visit, and trips to Colorado to visit family. Glen and JoAnn enjoyed traveling, going on cruises, bus tours and traveling by car.

Glen was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.

Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Kemper; son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Betsy Kemper of Kearney, NE; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Jim Grafel of Loveland, CO; granddaughter, Marissa Grafel; and numerous friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Leo Kemper; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Dana Arnold.
