Hastings resident, Goldie E. Johnson, 94, died Friday, April 6, 2007 at Perkins Pavilion, GSV, Hastings, NE. Memorial service will be Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at 11 AM, at All Saints Chapel, GSV, Hastings, NE with the Rev. Art Schakat officiating. Her wish was to be cremated. Book signing will be Monday, April 9, 2007 from 8 AM to 5 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE. Burial will be in the Minden Cemetery, Minden, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Mrs. Johnson was born April 22, 1912 to Daniel E. and Martina (Larsen) Danielson in Upland, NE. She was raised on a farm near Upland with 2 sisters and 1 brother. She was baptized at Osco Baptist Church near Upland and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden. She graduated from Upland High School. On November 5, 1930 she married Lloyd C. Johnson of Minden. The couple moved to Hildreth shortly after they were married. During WWII they lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1948 they returned to Miden where they raised their family and were active in the community, until Lloyd died on July 29, 1989. Goldie then moved to the Gold Beck Towers at GSV, Hastings, NE, where she was an active volunteer. She served in many capacities including being President of the Towers, Secretary of the Village, Library Board Member and Church Organist. She received the senior Volunteer Award for 10 years of Volunteer work. Goldie was a homemaker, raising 7 children and an accomplished musician, she played the Violin, Piano, and Organ. She enjoyed baking, canning, gardening, embroidery work and cake decorating. She is survived by 4 sons, Eugene A. Johnson and wife Lynn, of Wenatchee, Washington, Stanley W. Johnson and wife Marian of Hastings, NE, Howard L. Johnson and wife Marilyn of Lebanon, Oregon, Arvin L. Johnson and wife Linda of Desert Springs, California, 2 daughters, Evelyn J. Anderson and husband Robert of Minden, NE, and Lois M Schmidt and husband Dale of Monument, Colorado. and 1 sister, Elliene Christensen and husband Kenneth, Minden, NE, sister-in-laws, Jane Fecht of Minden of Minden and Marsha Johnson of Sharon Springs, Kansas, Alice Danielson of Kearney, NE and Bodil Johnson or Oregon. 18 Grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren, 18 step great grandchildren, 3 step great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, her parents, son, Robert on March 13, 1007, brother Richard Danielson and sister Mildred McCoy. Memorials may be given to Pekins Pavilion, GSV, Hastings, NE or donor(tm)s choice.
