Hastings resident, Grace Amelia (Einspahr) Pittz, 89 passed away Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings Village. Services will be Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at 10 AM at the Faith Lutheran Church, Hastings, NE with the Rev. Paul Dunbar officiating. Burial will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Holstein, NE. Visitation will be Monday, November 2, 2009 from 9 AM to 9 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Grace was born August 24, 1920 to Christian Chris and Louise (Aufdenkamp) Einspahr on a farm near Kenesaw, NE. She was baptized September 9, 1920 at her parents home. She attended Zion Lutheran School at Wanda and was confirmed April 9, 1933 there. As a teenager she left home to work for Louie & Cynthia Essinger in Holstein where she met her future husband. On Feb 22, 1941 Grace was united in marriage to Ben Pittz. They lived in Holstein where Ben owned and operated Pittz Service. Grace stayed at home to raise their 2 daughters. She enjoyed baking, canning and gardening and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was active in the Dorcas Society at St Paul Lutheran Church, in Holstein, NE. Her husband, Ben, died in 1986 and Grace moved to Hastings in 1989. She became a member of Faith Lutheran Church where she enjoyed participating in Wednesday morning Bible Study. She lived in her own home until moving to Homestead Assisted Living in 2005. The last year of her life was spent at Perkins Pavilion at Good Samaritan Village. Grace is survived by 2 daughters, Gloria Karr of Hastings, NE and Vivian Brinkmeyer of Lincoln, NE 5 grandchildren, Steve and Darci Karr of Hastings, Darren Karr and Liz Ansbach of Hastings, Kristin and James Siefkes of Lincoln, Lisa and Eric Klutz of Lincoln, Julie and David Freie of Highlands Ranch, CO, 14 great-grandchildren, 2 Sisters Lorraine Pittz of Grand Island, Fern Pittz of Holstein and Sister-in-law Neola Einspahr of Hastings. In addition to her husband, Grace was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother, Everett Einspahr, brothers Palmer Einspahr, Victor Einspahr, Orville Einspahr and sisters Olinda (Einspahr) Berndt, Naoma (Einspahr) VanBoening. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Faith Lutheran Church, Hastings, NE.
