Hastings resident, Harold Marion Luke, 90 died Friday, April 27, 2007 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, NE. Memorial service will be Saturday, May 5, 2007 at 2 PM at the church of Christ, Hastings, NE with Pastor Ken Ellis officiating. No visitation due to Mr. Luke donating his body to the University Of Nebraska Medical Center. A book signing will be Wednesday, May 1, 2007 to Friday, May 4, 2007 from 8 AM to 5 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from, www.brandwilson.com. Mr. Luke was born October 7, 1916 to Marion and Bertha (Brand) Luke in Adrian, Michigan. He moved with his family to Lincoln County, CO, and later to a homestead near Sugar City, CO in 1927. He graduated from the Canon City, CO, High School. He attended Pueblo Junior College he moved to Los Angeles, CA in 1940 and attended the UCLA and the Aeronautical Institute. He married Murial M. Meyer on July 12, 1942 in Pacoima, CA and worked for Lockheed Aircraft in Burbank, CA, during WWII. He moved his family to Durango, CO in 1948 where he farmed and had a Construction business and he also operated a school bus maintenance shop. He moved his family to Hastings in 1962 and worked for Rosell Rambler Auto then Hastings Motor Truck, Watkins Products, and Prudential Insurance. In 1972 he went to work for Westland Modular in charge of the flooring dept. He was the owner of World Wide Tape Service and supplied tape to missionaries world wide. He was a member and an Elder of the church of Christ; he helped develop the Nebraska Youth Camp at Kearney and served on its Board of Directors. He is survived by, his wife Muriel of Hastings, NE, 1 daughter, Susan Grissom of Williston, FL, and 5 sons, James of Portland, OR, Charles of Doniphan, NE, David of Lubbock, TX, William of Kearney, NE and Richard, of Longmont, CO. 16 Grandchildren, 1 Foster Grandchild, 11 Great-Grandchildren. 2 brothers, Bob of Tomball, TX and Roy of Virginia Beach, VA, 4 sisters, Ruth Malcohm of CA, Muriel Hostetter of MO, Mable Campbell of Denver, CO and Ester Yates of Colorado Springs, CO. He was preceded in death by, his parents, 1 brothers and 2 sisters. Memorials may be given to the York College or the Nebraska Youth Camp in Kearney, NE.
