Hastings resident, Harold Raymond Ham Sr., 85, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings Village.
Services will be Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 10 am at Zion Lutheran Chruch, Hastings with Rev. Paul Warneke officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Plattsmouth, NE at 3 pm. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 22, 2015 from 4 pm to 7 pm in the Apfel Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com. Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials may be given to the family.
Harold was born July 10, 1930 to Chester and Mary (Foster) Ham in Verdon, NE. He attended Verdon School through the 8th grade. He served in the United States Army from January 29, 1952 to February 20, 1954 during the Korean Conflict. He married Eleanor Haden on April 21, 1955. Harold and Eleanor celebrated their 50th Anniversary before Eleanor passed away on January 3, 2013. They moved to Hastings from Plattsmouth in 1969. Harold had worked for the Lincoln Telephone Company and then supervisor of press and plating at Dutton Lainson for 30 years in Hastings before retiring. He then worked part-time for Walmart.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Hastings, and the VFW, where he assisted with military funerals.
He is survived by two sons, Harold Jr. (Janelle) Ham of Hastings, Ron Ham of North Platte, son-in-law, Don Mattison of Holstein, NE, 5 grandchildren, Justin Ham, Hilary Ham, Matt Mattison, Joshua Mattison and Brand Mattison all of Hastings, 9 great grandchildren, two brothers, Clarence Ham of Omaha and Maynard Ham of Plattsmouth, sister, Bertha Ricco of New Jersey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Eleanor, daughter, Dawn Mattison, two brothers, Howard and Clifford Ham and two sisters, Millie Robinson and Dixie Rowe.
