Hastings resident, Helen A. Christensen, 89 died, Sunday, January 6, 2008 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, NE. Services will be Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at 10:30 AM at the Grace United Methodist Church, Hastings, NE with Eastern Star Services, with the Rev. Jim Miller officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, NE. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 8, 2007 from 9 AM to 9 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home and Cremation Service and one hour prior to service time at the church. Condolences may be sent to www.brandwilson.com. Helen was born May 2, 1918 to Johnathan Bill and Mary Molly (Pickrell) Larson, in Roseland, NE. She graduated from Roseland High School then graduated from Kearney St. College in 1971. She married Glenn Christensen in 1942 he died November 2, 1997. They farmed for many years she also taught school in Roseland and the Holstein area for 34 years. After retirement she volunteered at the Alcott and Watson schools in Hastings, NE where she read to the students. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, and did the childrens sermon there. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, and was a Stephen minister, and a member of the Hastings Retired Teachers Assoc, the Nebraska Assoc. of Retired School Personnel, Past Worthy Matron of Acacia Chapter 39 Eastern Star and Eastern Star Kensington. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by, her parents, her husband Glenn, and 2 brothers, Glenn and Gerald Larson. Memorials may be given to the Grace United Methodist Church or the American Diabetes Assoc. or donors choice.
