Helen L. Huntley

Hastings resident, Helen L. Huntley, 97, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at the Homestead, Hastings, NE. Services will be Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 10:30 at the Grace United Methodist Church, Hastings, NE with Rev. Cindy Karges officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, NE. Visitation will be Friday, October 22, 2012, from 9 am to 9 pm with the family present from 7 pm to 9 pm at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. A memorial will be established. Helen was born September 6, 1915 to Henry P. and Amelia (Neumann) Glanz in Gering, NE. After her mother passed away in an accident she was raised by Edith Brandner, her fathers second wife. She married Fredrick Huntley on October 2, 1935 in rural Fillmore County, NE, Fredrick passed away November 16, 1976. They moved to Hastings, NE in 1939. She was a cook at the Masonic Temple in Hastings for many years, retiring in 2005. Helens pies have been served in her church for more than 60 years and her baby quilts and tea towels have been treasured in nearly every state. She enjoyed going for rides and playing cards and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Hastings, NE. She is survived by three sons, Maynard R. and wife Jan of Georgetown, TX, Robert and wife Ann of Norfolk, NE : and F. Wayne and wife Lois of Hastings, NE, 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter, one brother, Ronald Glanz and wife Louisa of Albuquerque, NM and one sister in law, Marcella Glanz of Yuma, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband two brothers and one sister.
